Spring Flowers Wreath

April Showers, Bring May Flowers

I love the spring!! Just knowing the warm weather is on its way is enough for me to want to throw on a pair of flip flops and run outside to greet the sun. And with the sun comes all the pretty flowers! While my favorite flower is the daisy, there is something about tulips in all of their pretty colors that is just so irresistible and just announces “spring is here“.
So in honor of the tulip, and spring, I decided it was time to make a wreath for my door full of tulips.

The easiest way that I could think of was with felt. I know felt is not the most organic or natural material out there, but at least it is recycled and because it is going on the door and will not really come into contact with anyone I think its ok to use every now and then.

  • felt in pastel colors (I used purple, blue and pink and green for leaves and stems)
  • flower pattern
  • glue gun
  • plastic straws
  • Directions:

    1. Create a simple pattern to cut out of a petal and of a tulip leaf. I am trying to upload mine so that you can print it out and use if you wish. Once you cut it out pin it onto felt and cut out pieces. Note: You need 4 petals of each color and 12 leaves in the green. You also need to cut out 3 long thin rectangles for the stems.
    2. Next, using hot glue attach the petals to one another. Make sure you have the center petal glued on top of the side petals. You need a center petal on the back and the front. You now have the top of your flower.
    3. Attach the stems to the back of the flower.
    4. Now it it time to assemble the leaves. Take two leaf cut outs and glue them together. You will then take two assembled leaves and carefully glue them onto the stem. It is up to you how much space you want between them. Note: the closer they are together the sturdier the flowers will be.
    5. The final step is to attach straws to the back of the flowers and the leaves to hold them together and make them a little more sturdy for when you hang it up. As you can see from my picture, it does not look very pretty in the back, but thankfully no one is going to see that part. 🙂

The only thing left for you to do is to hang your tulips somewhere that could use a little more spring in it! And then grab your flip flops and enjoy some of that spring weather and those beautiful spring flowers!
